Acca Arithmeticworked problems for accumulator maths

About

About this book

Acca Arithmetic is a set of worked problems for people in Nigeria who read accumulator slips and want to check the numbers on them.

What it covers

How odds combine, what they imply as probabilities, how a void leg changes a slip, how system bets are counted and costed, and what a percentage added to winnings works out to. There are 27 problems in five chapters, from warm-up to stretch.

What it does not do

It gives no picks, predictions, tips or staking plans, names no bookmaker and describes no real offer. Slips differ: a slip's own rules decide how voids, rounding and any added percentage are handled. Where a problem assumes a rule, it says so.

Where the numbers come from

Every odds figure, stake and term is invented to make the arithmetic clear. The working and answers are calculated by the script that builds these pages, so the text and the arithmetic cannot drift apart.

A word on risk

The arithmetic in Chapter 2 shows how quickly combined implied probabilities fall as legs are added, and how a margin built into each price grows over several legs. An accumulator loses the whole stake if any leg loses.
